STATIC RELAY OPERATION USING MICRO CONTROLLER

AIM: The main aim of this project is to design STATIC RELAY OPERATION. . PURPOSE: The purpose of the project is to control static relay operation using microcontroller. METHODOLOGY: Block Diagram: POWER SUPPLY: DESCRIPTION: Relays are devices that stop the electrical current of a circuit in the event of excess or very high current. Relays are handy, not only because they can protect against electrical fires but also because they can be reset. When a fuse blows out, it must be replaced each time, whereas relays are easily reset when tripped. There are so many relays are like electromechanically relay, static relay etc. the main drawback in electromechanical relay is time of operation is more to avoid that in this project we are using power electronic devices for relaying purpose. In the present project for the demonstration purpose we are going to measure the current flowing through circuit by using current sensing circuit and when it exceeds some certain limit then we are going to trip the total circuit by using one relay. Here we are using CT (current transformer) for measuring the current. For protection of equipments from over current condition first we have to measure the total load current which is flowing in circuit. Here we are using current sensing circuit for measuring the load current and the output of Current sensing circuitry is given to ADC for converting analog output of current sensing circuit into digital data. That ADC output is given to microcontroller for monitoring purpose. When current are increases certain limit then we are going to trip the load by using relay. The main another advantage of our static relay is it’s a programmable one. that means we can set the maximum current by using keypad. Suppose if we set the maximum current as 0.5 amp then relay will trip when the load current increases more than 0.5 amp and if we set the maximum current as 1 amp then relay will trip when the load current increases more than 1 amp. In this project we are using 230v bulbs as a load. We are going to increase the load by increasing the number of bulbs ON. When we ON more bulbs it causes over load condition and microcontroller will detect that and it will trip the total load by using relay. In this project we are using triac as relay for tripping purpose. Here we are using LCD for displaying the total load current which is flowing in the circuit.
