AIM: The Aim of the project is to design a digital tachometer by using microcontroller. PURPOSE : The purpose of the project is to develop a system, which uses keypad that keeps control of the various speeds of dc motor. The speed of DC motor is calculated with the help of the slot sensor. The different calculated speeds of DC motor will be displayed on the LCD. BLOCK DIAGRAM: DESCRIPTION: Every system is automated in order to face new challenges in the present day situation. Automated systems have less manual operations, so that the flexibility, reliabilities are high and accurate. Hence every field prefers automated control systems. Especially in the field of electronics automated systems are doing better performance. There are several applications with dc motors in our daily life. We require different speeds at different instants depending on the applications. There are several techniques to control the speed of dc motor; PWM technique is one in those. PWM stands for pulse width modulation. Pulse width modulation (PWM) is a powerful technique for controlling analog circuits with a processor's digital outputs. This project may helpful for industries to maintain different speeds of the DC motor for various applications like conveyor belt, etc. Here the speed of the motor according to the key press is displayed on the LCD. Hardware Components: • Micro controller • Keypad • Power supply • Dc motor • LCD display • Slot sensor Software Tools: • Keil u-Vision • Embedded ‘C’ • Express PCB APPLICATIONS: • Industrial applications • Automobile applications Result: According to this project we can implement a digital tachometer with using microcontroller.
