THE REAL-TIME TEMPERATURE MEASURING SYSTEM FOR THE JOINTLESS RAIL

 

Abstract

A kind of the real-time temperature monitoring System is developed to safeguard the safety of the joint less rail. The design of hardware and software of the system is introduced. The temperature data collected from sensors of the Department of the system is sent to the central department by GSM modules in the way of SMS. GSM module of the central Department receives the data and transfer to PC through the PCI multi-serial-port card. The graphical programming Software lab view is used for data decoded, processing, Storage, display in PC. If the temperature is out of limits, the Software will send SMS or call people related for monitoring and alarm the temperature of the joint less rail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Introduction

Jointless rail with rich comfort and supporting the high-speed trains is considered the first of high-speed line. The effect of temperature stress for jointless rail is large, the temperature monitoring for jointless rail is particularly important. If the temperature monitoring is not appropriate, the rail contraction in winter will break the steel rails and the ray expansion in the summer will lead to the train got derailed.  In rail temperature measuring method, relying on artificial regular designated monitoring temperature has been less traditional way of the past, because it expenses a lot of manpower, material and the data is difficult to be analyzed by synthesis. The method described in this paper is implementing more a statement, every statement of the steel rails temperature monitors, transport and alarm function, using a mature and stable GSM network transmission way. The central statement exchange the rail temperature data with a statement according to the required frequency, and the data is transmitted to the computer. The information is displayed and stored, the system is of the over ranging alarm function.

Block diagram description:

                   Consider the transmitter section block diagram where the three temperatures are used. These are placed near rail track. By these temperature sensors the rail temperature can be measured. For particular temperature the railway tracks which are of iron material will expand if a threshold of temperature rises then that causes an indefinite shape for the railway tracks, this causes effects on railway transportation so when the temperature reaches threshold temperature then it will be monitored by the controller, when that particular incident occurs then controller send message to GSM to send a message to control station that there is an abnormality in railway tracks due to temperature raise.

                   At the receiver side the transmitter messages will be received and will be sent to PC where a Dot Net application will be running. Here Dot Net application will receive the messages and it will show the monitoring temperature to the user controller. The application also maintains the database of the temperature with respect to time and date using system date and time.
