SECURED PASSWORD SYSTEM FOR ATM USING GSM

 

Abstract

 

 

 

We propose a concept for securing any system which has two levels of authorization like a user and a supervisor who monitors the actions of the user.

 

            A typical example of such a system is an ATM, where the admin will have access to add money to the ATM. The actions of the admin like when to replenish the money to the ATM are decided by the supervisor. The supervisor or the bank manager in this case will be notified of all the actions by the admin who deals with money. Since it is a very critical system, securing it is at most important.             

 

            The Current situation suffers from a serious drawback that the supervisor cannot monitor the actions of the admin in real-time. This means, if the admin opens the ATM machine for replenishing money the supervisor has no idea. He will only know only if the admin notifies him. This gap leads to lot of thefts by the admin; some of them misuse their privileges and steal money from the ATM.                 

 

            Solving such a security threat requires a two level security system. We use the Anti-Spam technology to advantage of this scenario and try to solve the system.       

 

            The working of the system is conceptually simpler, when an admin tries to unlock an ATM, he needs a password. Once he enters the password, the system will generate a random password and send it to the supervisor asking whether to allow the admin to access the ATM. Only if supervisor accepts the request by sending back that random key, ATM will proceed with sending a random key to admin. Once the admin enters the random key, only then the ATM will unlock itself and allow for admin to take charge.
