A Price- and-Time-Slot-Negotiation Mechanism for Cloud Service Reservations

ABSTRACT:

            When making reservations for Cloud services, consumers and providers need to establish service-level agreements through negotiation. Whereas it is essential for both a consumer and a provider to reach an agreement on the price of a service and when to use the service, to date, there is little or no negotiation support for both price and time-slot negotiations (PTNs) for Cloud service reservations. This paper presents a multi-issue negotiation mechanism to facilitate the following: 1) PTNs between Cloud agents and 2) tradeoff between price and time-slot utilities. Another novelty of this work is formulating a novel time-slot utility function that characterizes preferences for different time slots. These ideas are implemented in an agent-based Cloud testbed. Using the testbed, experiments were carried out to compare this work with related approaches. Empirical results show that PTN agents reach faster agreements and achieve higher utilities than other related approaches. A case study was carried out to demonstrate the application of the PTN mechanism for pricing Cloud resources.

EXISTING SYSTEM:

          In existing negotiation mechanisms in which a negotiation agent can onlymake one proposal at a time, Whereas it is essential for both a consumer and a provider to reach an agreement on the price of a service and when to use the service, to date, there is little or no negotiation support for both price and time-slot negotiations (PTNs) for Cloud service reservations.

Whereas previous works have dealt with advance reservations considering bandwidth or time constraints and considered SLA negotiation, to date, there is no service reservation system that considers both price and time-slot negotiations (PTNs). Since there is an inverse relationship between price and time-slot utilities [e.g., a consumer needs to pay a higher price (obtaining a lower price utility) to use a service at a more desirable time slot (obtaining a higher time-slot utility)], price and time slot have to be negotiated simultaneously.

 

PROPOSED SYSTEM:

In proposed a multi-issue negotiation mechanism to facilitate the following:

1) PTNs between Cloud agents and 2) tradeoff between price and time-slot utilities.

The objectives of this work are as follows:

1) To devise a PTN mechanism that includes the design of a novel utility function for characterizing time-slot preferences.

2) To design tradeoff and concession algorithms for the negotiation strategy of consumers and providers.

3) To implement an agent-based Cloud testbed.

4) To evaluate the PTN mechanism by conducting experiments using the agent-based testbed.

5) To conduct a case study on applying the PTN mechanism to the pricing of Cloud resources. The PTN mechanism with related systems. Concludes this paper by highlighting the significance and novelty of this work.

1.Provider Agent

Technique: price Time Slot Negotiation 

            Reserved instance, on demand Instance only provide fixed price and it is not provide Time slot that why collision occurred. In spot Instance provide only time slot neither provide scheduling slot.In this paper, a novel time-slot utility function is designed to model Consumers and providers’ preferences for different time slots. Price Time Slot Negotiation provides both Time Slot and Scheduling slot so collision abandoned.

Price and Time Slot Negotiation

A novel time-slot utility function that characterizes different preferences for different time slots has been devised, the PTN mechanism is designed for both price and time-slot negotiations. A novel tradeoff algorithm, known as the “burst mode” proposal, has been designed to enhance both the negotiation speed and the aggregated utility of price and time slot in a multi-issue negotiation.

Consumer Agent

Consumer got Time slot from provider agent to access resources within Time Slot. It gathered information about spot instance, ptn instance, on  demand instance. Spot instances allow consumers to pay for compute capacity by the hour at a spot price that fluctuates based on supply and demand. Consumers specify a maximum price that they are willing to pay per hour

Cloud Market Registry

Cloud service providers and consumers participate in the Cloud market of the testbed through the Cloud market registry. All agents participating in the Cloud market are registered in the Cloud market registry implemented using the JADE directory facilitator. All consumer agents connected to the Cloud market registry can then recognize and communicate with each provider agent. Provider agents and consumer agents generate service descriptions and specify their preferences with regard to service name, price, time slot, and negotiation strategy based on a GUI.
