Desktop video-conferencing Video Conferencing is simply a method for people in two or more locations to not only talk with one another, but to see each other and exchange information. Until recently, most videoconferencing was done with room videoconferencing systems, which require very sophisticated and expensive equipment to provide high-quality sound and video. Video Conferencing system uses the analog voice and video technology. An Analog system can provide voice, real color images, and graphics at an analog bandwidth with lower frequency. PROPOSED SYSTEM Desktop video-conferencing is gaining acceptance as a viable telecommunications technology. While a video-conferencing system uses the analog voice and video technology, a DVC system employs the digital audio and video technology offered real-time applications sharing that increases productivity of groups who need to work together but are split up geographically. Designed to run on a personal computer (PC)-based platform, DVC systems are meeting the challenge of providing varied applications in the government and the commercial sectors. DVC systems take advantage of the operating system’s multi-tasking environment, allowing users to maintain a live face-to-face video-conference while accessing many other applications on their desktops, such as spreadsheet and word processing. ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM Desktop video-conferencing is less expensive and requires personal computer. It is useful in situations of crisis management, or times when meetings are held on short notice. The primary use of Desktop Video-conferencing is to allow the timely exchange of information without travelling. A digital DVC system offers more advanced features as well as provides more flexibility than an analog based-system. In particular, video interactions may not require as much social protocol and, in the case of desktop video conferencing, people can spontaneously draw upon resources in their own environments as the conversation unfolds. Desktop Video Conference provides easy way for communication. MODULE DESCRIPTION TRANSMITTER MODULE The aim of this module is to take the video frames and make them as short as possible bit stream of them in order to be able to send the video over the Internet or a network. The quality needs to be as good as possible and the bit stream needs to be as short as possible. In order to compile the bit stream in an efficient way there are several methods to go through before we have the bit stream. RECEIVER MODULE The Receiver class sets up and initializes an RTP session with a certain IP address that could be either a multicast or a unicast address. All incoming audio/video streams from that address are identified and passed on to a player for playback. A separate window is created for each video stream. If it is a unicast address, separate copies of data are sent whereas if it is a multicast address, the same copy is sent to all the systems related to the address. The aim of this module is to reverse the operations of the transmitter module and estimate the next best frame possible with the help of the previous frame. :
